Hi Karen,
Done the exclusion diet thing when I was first diagnosed with IBS many moons ago, it's really hard going but in the end you do find out what suits and what doesn't. The only thing is that with IBS the symptoms are very obvious and pretty immediate in some cases so its quite easy to identify the culprits. I've been tinkering with my diet over the last few months to see if anythig makes an obvious difference but the unpredicability of this disease makes it darned awkward to analyse anything and come up with definite conclusions! Making sense of all this seems a long way away. I'd be very interested to know how you get on though, good luck with it.

I had an appointment with occupational therapy today. She gave me several arc leaflets including one called diet and athritis. It is very interesting. Here is a link to the online version. http://www.arthritisrese...tion_and_arthritis.aspx

Hi,

I just thought I would give an update as I am still progressing through the diet.

I have had one major breakthrough, it seems most of my tiredness has been caused by yeast. Since I cut out yeast from my diet I have not had to nap in the afternoon once! Testing yeast tablets made me need to spend the afternoon in bed.

Yeast is something I had never thought of and has never been suggested to me as a possible food to avoid so thought I would sharee this with you.

Thanks

Hi there. That's great that GP has ruled out other stomach problems, so at least one thing less to worry about. I believe that diet doesn't affect RA - but it does help other aspects of life and does help make you feel more in control of your own destiny. I have identified a number of foods (mainly dairy sadly) that if I eat too much of tend to make me feel low and can trigger an uncomfortable stomach, and I do feel better when I'm making the effort to eat a properly balanced diet. So great that you've already identified something that does seem to give you a negative reaction. But do please make sure that once you've cut things out that you are left with a balanced diet...
